Medical Directors list at a glance

The MedicalProspects Medical Directors Email List has 11,207 verified medical director contacts worldwide, updated October 2026: physicians who lead a hospital department, service line, outpatient center, nursing home or hospice. Each title and employer is verified, U.S. physician records are matched to an active NPI, and emails are verified before delivery. Filter by facility type, department, health system and location.

Scope

Who is in the Medical Directors Email List

A medical director is the physician accountable for clinical care in one department, program or facility. They set clinical protocols, oversee quality and physician performance, and sign off on clinical products and services used in their area. That makes them the clinical decision-maker one level below the chief medical officer, who leads medical staff across a whole hospital or health system.

In the United States, several facility types are required to have one. Federal Medicare and Medicaid rules require a designated medical director at skilled nursing facilities (42 CFR 483.70), hospices (42 CFR 418.102) and dialysis facilities (42 CFR 494.140). Our list includes these directors where we can verify the person currently holding the role.

Titles

Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Regional Medical Director, and Medical Director of a named department or program (for example, Medical Director of Emergency Medicine or of the Hospitalist Program)

Facility types

Hospitals and health systems, physician groups, urgent care centers, ambulatory surgery centers, dialysis facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospices, home health agencies and behavioral health providers

Not included

Chief medical officers and VPs of medical affairs (a separate list), health plan and pharmaceutical company medical directors, and non-physician program directors

Clinical specialty

Each physician director carries the NUCC taxonomy code from their NPI record, so you can filter by specialty, such as emergency medicine, internal medicine or geriatrics

Geography

United States (all 50 states and DC) plus international medical directors; the 11,207 total covers both. Facility address down to ZIP or postal code

Use cases

Who buys this list and why

Medical directors are the clinical sign-off for anything that changes how care is delivered in their area, so buyers tend to be selling into a specific department or care setting.

Clinical technology and devices

Companies selling clinical decision support, monitoring equipment or department-specific devices reach the medical director who evaluates the product and recommends it to the value analysis committee. Pair the list with emergency department directors or other department leads for the operational side of the decision.

Post-acute and long-term care services

Long-term care pharmacy, mobile diagnostics, telehealth coverage and infection prevention vendors target nursing home and hospice medical directors, who approve clinical services alongside the nursing home administrator.

Pharma medical affairs and education

Medical affairs and medical education teams reach medical directors because they write the clinical protocols and order sets that decide how therapies are used in their department or facility.

Physician staffing and recruiting

Hospitalist, emergency medicine and locum tenens staffing firms, and health systems filling directorships, contact current medical directors about coverage gaps, open roles and program management contracts.

FAQ

Medical Directors list FAQs

How many medical directors are on the list?

The list has 11,207 verified medical director contacts in the U.S. and internationally, current as of October 2026, across hospitals, outpatient centers and post-acute facilities. Chief medical officers are counted separately.

What is the difference between a medical director and a chief medical officer?

A medical director leads clinical care in one department, program or facility. A chief medical officer is a C-suite executive responsible for the medical staff across a hospital or health system. Many campaigns need both: use the chief medical officers list for system-level decisions and this list for department and facility decisions.

Are nursing home and hospice medical directors included?

Yes, where we can verify who currently holds the role. Skilled nursing facilities and hospices must designate a medical director under Medicare rules (42 CFR 483.70 and 418.102). Many of these directors cover several facilities, so we record each facility they serve.

Can I target medical directors of one department, such as emergency medicine?

Yes. Records carry the department or program from the director's title, plus the specialty code from their NPI record, so you can select emergency, hospitalist, critical care or other directors and exclude the rest.

How are medical director records verified?

We confirm the current title and employer against facility and health system sources, match U.S. physician directors to an active NPI in the CMS NPPES registry, and verify emails before every delivery. The full process is on our data quality page.
